The original webtoon, available on LINE Manga, follows a girl named Sori who becomes the target of bullying after defending a friend and transfers to a school in the countryside. There, she discovers a mysterious letter hidden in her desk. The story, told across just 10 episodes, has earned praise for its lyrical art style, color palette, and distinctive direction.

About the Film

Distributed in Japan by Comix Wave Films — the animation studio behind Makoto Shinkai's Your Name. and SuzumeYour Letter marks the studio's first foray into distributing an overseas theatrical animated film. Direction is handled by Kim Young-hwan, who previously accumulated over 150 million combined views with the YouTube short animation series A Day Before Us. This is his feature-length directorial debut, and he brings together nuanced psychological portrayals, beautifully detailed art backgrounds, and poetic visuals to craft a fresh and enigmatic coming-of-age story.

In South Korea, where the film has already been released, it surpassed 220,000 admissions shortly after opening and has been praised as "the best anime of my life" and "a new possibility for K-animation."

A teaser visual and Japanese-version trailer have now been unveiled. The teaser visual features the protagonist Sori alone among greenery, reading a letter, alongside the tagline: "I had always been alone. Until I encountered this miracle." The Japanese trailer, set to the theme song Your Letter performed by AKMU's Lee Su-hyun, depicts the moment Sori's world begins to shine as she is guided by the letter she finds at her new school.

Story

Sori, a girl who was bullied after standing up for a friend, transfers to a rural school. Unable to fit in, she keeps to herself — until she discovers a mysterious letter hidden in her desk. The letter contains hints for navigating life at the new school and ends with the cryptic words, "Try to find what comes next." Following those words leads her to Dongseung, an aloof classmate who claims to know the letter's author. As they search for the rest of the letter together, its true message begins to emerge — and when Sori finally understands that message, she finds her way back to a promise made long ago.
