Moonbat Corporation (Headquarters: Shimogyo-ku, Kyoto City; President: Takashi Kamata) announced the release of new wind-resistant models in its MAGICAL TECH PROTECTION series of world's lightest all-weather sun umbrellas on January 15, 2026.
With cumulative sales surpassing 600,000 units, the "Seriously Light Umbrella" series welcomes its first wind-resistant models. The new lineup includes the "Tough W rib" model featuring double carbon ribs that strengthen the 6-rib structure while maintaining lightness, and the "Tough 12 rib" model with 12 ribs—more than double the standard—achieving a beautiful silhouette alongside lightness and strength. This brings the total lineup to 8 models. Additionally, a new hat series launches featuring the same high-performance fabric as the all-weather sun umbrellas, combining light-blocking, UV protection, heat shielding, and waterproof properties in lightweight designs. Three models are available for everyday use and leisure activities.
Moonbat Corporation launched MAGICAL TECH PROTECTION in February 2024, achieving approximately 82g—significantly below the 100g threshold that the umbrella industry considers "ultra-lightweight"—while using high-performance light-blocking fabric with 100% light-blocking and UV protection rates. The company developed high-spec lightweight light-blocking fabric compatible with its proprietary special carbon ribs (utility model registered), creating this "Seriously Light Umbrella" that balances light-blocking and lightness. Its remarkable lightness, so unnoticeable when carried that users forget they're holding it, has made it popular as a "bag-in umbrella" kept permanently in bags. The series will be exhibited at the Tokyo International Gift Show, Japan's largest international trade fair for personal gifts and lifestyle goods, held at Tokyo Big Sight from February 4, 2026, for three days.

100% Light-Blocking and UV Protection Fabric with Excellent Heat Shielding
The fabric achieves maximum sun umbrella performance standards with 100% light-blocking rate, 100% UV protection rate, and UPF50+ ultraviolet protection factor.
Umbrella product heat shielding evaluation tests showed a temperature difference of 32.5°C. Thermographic testing revealed surface temperature differences of -14.8°C at the crown and -4.2°C at the right shoulder.
