Mary Chocolate Company is set to release a new summer confection, SUGARCOAT MILLEFEUILLE, at Mary Chocolate counters nationwide starting May 13, 2026 (Wednesday).

With intense summer heat expected to arrive early again this year, there is growing demand for gifts and souvenirs that can be transported at room temperature during Golden Week and the summer homecoming season. Building on the company's long-selling Millefeuille — a Grand Prix winner at the Japan Food Selection awards — this new product was developed as a summer gift designed for today's rising temperatures. A proprietary sugar coating overcomes chocolate's characteristic tendency to melt, making it possible to carry at room temperature.

Background

On particularly hot days, even chocolate fans tend to shy away from chocolate-based sweets due to concerns about melting or heavy flavors. The aim was to create a chocolate confection that could be enjoyed in summer — one that holds its shape at room temperature, tastes refreshingly light, and works well as a gift to bring along on trips or homecoming visits.
