Yokohama's MASTERWAL Showroom to Launch Vinyl Record Sales, Uniting Furniture, Café, and Music in One Space

Land of MASTERWAL Yokohama, the Tsuzuki-ku showroom of walnut solid wood furniture brand MASTERWAL, will begin selling vinyl records — both new and used — at its in-store MASTERWAL café starting April 15, 2026. Rather than functioning as a conventional furniture store or a simple café, the space aims to deliver what the brand calls a "quality of living experience."

A Showroom Where Furniture, Coffee, and Music Overlap

In today's world, furniture and music are easily sourced online. But according to MASTERWAL, something is missing in that equation: atmosphere. The scent of coffee, the texture of solid wood under your hands, and the time spent in the company of others — when these elements converge, they create what the brand describes as genuine quality time.

At Land of MASTERWAL Yokohama, the idea is to listen to records while seated on a piece of furniture and enjoying a cup of coffee — with the experience itself as the product. The goal is not to sell a sofa or a record in isolation, but to deliver a sense of what a well-lived life can feel like.

An Extension of MASTERWAL's Musical Heritage

This launch is not simply an expansion of merchandise. Marking its 20th anniversary in 2026, MASTERWAL is broadening its focus beyond furniture to encompass all elements of daily living — music, coffee, and conversation — as a single, cohesive lifestyle proposition.

One of the underlying ideas is continuity: music playing in the showroom can be purchased and taken home, allowing visitors to recreate the mood of their visit in their own living space.

MASTERWAL has long incorporated music into its product lineup, offering record players, speakers, record racks, and even DJ booth furniture. The addition of records themselves is a natural step in that direction.

Furniture and Vinyl: Both Deepen With Time

MASTERWAL's furniture is built around the concept of "towards antiques 100 years from now" — pieces that absorb the marks and patina of daily life, becoming richer the longer they are used.

Vinyl records share that character. Albums like Steely Dan's Aja, Sade's Diamond Life, and Tatsuro Yamashita's FOR YOU (1982) were once new releases. Over time, the music has taken on layers of memory and meaning. Both furniture and records, in the brand's view, are objects whose value deepens with the years.

Record Lineup (Planned)

The selection spans A.O.R., Quiet Storm, Cool & West Coast Jazz, Japanese City Pop, and Wa-mono (Japanese vintage music), with around 40 titles kept in permanent stock. Featured artists include Steely Dan, Sade, Miles Davis, Tatsuro Yamashita, and Yumi Matsutoya, among others. Both new and used records will be available.

Record supplier: Record Hyakkaten (Mercari Shops)
