Women's watch brand MATOW, from Shibuya, Tokyo-based 株式会社ビヨンクール, is introducing three new dial colors inspired by Japanese flowers for Seigetsu, a watch line that reflects Japanese aesthetics. The new colors are for the Seigetsu MINI SQUARE model.
The colors draw on the delicate, understated hues of flowers that have long been loved in Japan: a pale blue reminiscent of hydrangea, a deep navy inspired by the balloon flower (kikyo) in bloom, and a pale purple suggestive of wisteria. Rather than being vivid, the colors are designed to change expression quietly with the light and the occasion, expressing the modest beauty of Japan's flowers on the wrist.
The new colors layer the beauty of the flowers that color Japan's four seasons onto the "beauty of tranquility" that Seigetsu has always valued. Instead of depicting the flowers themselves, the dials capture the colors each flower evokes, creating a design that blends naturally into everyday outfits.
The Seigetsu MINI SQUARE features a compact rectangular case measuring 23 mm tall by 13 mm wide. Its slim square form fits the wrist smoothly, giving a delicate yet refined presence. Fine indexes on the dial, combined with the sharp lines of the case, create a clean, polished look. Even with the colorful dials, the watch itself does not stand out too much, making it easy to add to an everyday style. The case and metal band are made of stainless steel, and the band width is set at 4 mm to suit the slim silhouette. Its compact size does not get in the way of wrist movement, and it can be worn like an accessory.
