Who Is Proto Man, the Wandering Warrior?

Proto Man is the first humanoid prototype robot built by Dr. Light. Since his debut in Mega Man 3, he has crossed paths with Mega Man throughout the series, sometimes as a rival and sometimes as an ally. Having appeared across numerous mainline and spin-off titles, he remains one of the most beloved characters in the Mega Man series.
Proto Man's Combat Style
Proto Man fights with a style all his own, built around the Proto Buster and Proto Shield.
Where Mega Man is an all-rounder who fires the long-range Mega Buster and wields a variety of special weapons, Proto Man specializes in close-range combat, pairing a short-ranged but powerful Proto Buster with a range of attacks unleashed through the Proto Shield.

Command inputs let him unleash a range of special actions, though each one places a heavy strain on his body.

Using them repeatedly causes him to overheat, so players need to manage his cooldown carefully.
Take On Tough Enemies with a Stronger Proto Man: The Custom Chip System
The Custom Chip system, which can adjust and strengthen the abilities of Mega Man and the others, is also available to Proto Man.
Combine chips that play to Proto Man's distinctive combat style to find a fighting approach all your own.

Push Past Your Limits: Proto Man Can Trigger Override Too
Override, the new system that lets a character deliberately release their limiter to unleash power beyond their limits for a short time, is also available to Proto Man.
While active, it grants overwhelming power, but deactivating it brings a temporary drop across various stats as a reaction to pushing past his limits. Timing its activation to read the flow of battle is key to getting the most out of Proto Man's abilities.
