Tokyo Metro and Kyujitsu Hack have teamed up to launch a new spinoff of their popular immersive experience game series, Metro Time Gate: Guardian Archivist, at the Tokyo Subway Museum (Chikahaku) in Edogawa, Tokyo, from June 26, 2026 (Friday).
Metro Time Gate is an immersive experience game series co-developed by Tokyo Metro and Kyujitsu Hack, in which participants become the protagonist and explore the city of Tokyo to advance the story. The series has received praise for its compelling characters and strong sense of narrative immersion, attracting a cumulative total of over 40,000 participants across all installments, including the currently running Ruby Express chapter.
The new Metro Time Gate: Guardian Archivist chapter distills the world of the series into the interior of the Tokyo Subway Museum itself. Rather than exploring the wider city, participants use the trains, documents, and archives on display within the museum as the keys to unraveling the mystery. The indoor setting also means the experience remains comfortable even on hot summer days or in bad weather.
As a standalone spinoff, Metro Time Gate: Guardian Archivist can be enjoyed without any prior experience of the main series. Participants who have completed the currently running Ruby Express chapter will also find a special bonus puzzle included.

What Is Metro Time Gate?

Story

New Characters
Chika Kasai
Chika dreams of becoming a Guardian Archivist. Deeply interested in the history and records of the Tokyo subway, she enters the certification exam to pursue that dream. While she is studious and genuinely capable, she struggles to fully believe in herself and often wears an uncertain expression. She admires Maru Shimochi of the Marunouchi Line for her bright and straightforward attitude, and is taking her first steps forward with the hope of becoming like her someday.
The Mystery Monster: チカいじゅう
A mysterious creature. Having heard rumors that "becoming an Archivist brings great rewards," チカいじゅう entered the certification exam driven by greed alone — only to fall far short on knowledge and stumble partway through. Rather than quietly stepping aside, it takes a rather alarming turn of action and becomes a troublesome obstacle for Chika and the participant.
