On May 3, 2026 (Sunday/National Holiday), Heartland Myoko in Myoko City, Niigata Prefecture is holding the "GW Wakuwaku Experience Fair." Three hands-on programs are available — planting potatoes alongside local farmers, shaping candles like clay, and solidifying ice cream in a way that feels just like a science experiment — all packed with the kind of "I want to try that!" moments that appeal to kids and adults alike.

Potato Planting Experience | Free
Working alongside local farmers from Obora Field, participants get to plant potatoes in the ground. Wearing boots and getting covered in mud makes for a rare, hands-on experience that is hard to come by in urban areas.
A harvest experience for the same potatoes is also planned during the summer school holidays!
Participating also earns a ¥100 discount on either the candle-making or ice cream-making experience.
- Time: From 10:00 AM (no reservation required)
- Duration: Approximately 40 minutes
- Fee: Free
- What to bring: Boots, clothes you don't mind getting dirty, work gloves
- Note: May be cancelled in the event of rain.
