Sapporo Hitsujigaoka Observatory is holding a lavender harvesting experience from Friday, June 26, to Sunday, July 12, 2026. The 1,200 sq m field, home to around 1,000 lavender plants, reaches full bloom during this period. All necessary tools are provided free of charge, and visitors can take home up to 50 stems of freshly cut lavender — perfect for making dried flowers or potpourri.
Lavender Harvesting Experience

Scissors for cutting and bags for carrying home are all provided at no cost. Each visitor may take up to 50 stems. Harvested lavender can be enjoyed as dried flowers or potpourri.
First Harvest of Summer: Lavender Kari-zome Event

On the opening day, local nursery school children are invited to take part in the first harvest of the season — a traditional kick-off to the summer event.
Photo Spot Experience

Special photo props featuring Dr. Clark and sheep motifs will be available, giving visitors a chance to snap a memorable shot unique to Hitsujigaoka Observatory.
SNS Campaign: "#羊ヶ丘ラベンダー"

Post a photo of lavender soft serve or the lavender field on social media using the hashtag #羊ヶ丘ラベンダー, show the post on-site, and receive a lavender potpourri gift while supplies last.
Weekend Kitchen Cars

- Dates: June 27–28, July 4–5, July 11–12
- Hours: 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
A variety of kitchen cars will be on-site during weekends throughout the event period. Enjoy your favorite food while taking in the sweeping scenery.
Strider Experience

- Dates: June 26 (Fri) to July 12 (Sun)
- Hours: 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Fee: Free
A dedicated Strider (balance bike) area will be set up on the grounds. Striders are available to borrow free of charge. Suitable for children aged 2 to 5; parental supervision is required.
Entry Passport Now More Affordable
Since April 1, 2026, entry passport prices have been reduced. The passport grants unlimited free admission for the holder and is valid through March 31, 2027.
