New Balance is adding a new lifestyle model to its lineup: the 983. Reinterpreting a 2000s-era performance running shoe, the 983 blends elements of classic New Balance models into a fresh, innovative silhouette, arriving October 1st (Thursday) at the New Balance official online store, New Balance official stores, and other retailers.
A Silhouette Inspired by Iconic New Balance Design
Drawing inspiration from New Balance's signature design language, the 983 keeps a familiar, approachable silhouette while redefining everyday style through its own design vocabulary. The shoe features the oval form of the ABZORB SBS pod and wave-shaped molding along the midsole and outsole, which work in harmony with the classic "N" logo on the saddle and the rounded overlays across the upper. The result is a sculptural, refined silhouette built around texture and form — an advanced evolution that leads wearers toward a "new dimension."
A Global Campaign Celebrating Individual Style
The global launch campaign for 983 features New Balance brand ambassador and tennis player Coco Gauff alongside Portland-born rapper and singer-songwriter Aminé, each expressing the shoe's versatility through their own distinctive style.
Built on the belief that "style is never one-dimensional," the campaign celebrates self-expression and individuality, showing how the shoe fits naturally into a range of looks and personalities. The 983 is designed for anyone who enjoys exploring every side of their personal style.

Product Details
The upper combines a glossy material with mesh. ABZORB — cushioning designed to reduce the impact of landing and push-off — is paired with ABZORB SBS, which adds extra rebound on top of ABZORB, to support a natural walking motion. For the sole, New Balance uses Solid Rubber with a slightly reduced hardness, chosen with flexibility and cushioning in mind.
