Nitori has previously sold cushions modeled on a variety of foods, including meat buns, chestnut manju, and dorayaki. The Mochi Mochi Cushion series has been well received by many customers, and cumulative sales have now passed 4.9 million units.
The two new designs, modeled on the Western sweet waffle and the Japanese sweet taiyaki, went on sale at the same time.
The Mochi Mochi Cushion Waffle is a plump cushion that offers different textures in the waffle base and the cream. Along with its soft, pleasant feel, its horizontally long shape means it can double as a makeshift pillow, making it handy for relaxing in the living room.
The Mochi Mochi Cushion Taiyaki carefully recreates the taiyaki's distinctive shape, its appetizing baked color, and even its expression. Along with its eye-catching look, it has a plump, moderate volume and is made in a size that is easy to use.
With these two cushions, which are fun to look at and soothing to touch, everyday relaxing time can be more enjoyable. Nitori plans to keep developing products that make daily life more convenient and comfortable.
Developer Comment
The Mochi Mochi Cushion series is developed out of a wish to deliver cushions that are fun to look at and soothing to touch. Using real waffles and taiyaki as references, we went through repeated prototypes to reproduce features such as the shape, baked color, and texture, and we focused on a plump finish.
We would be happy if you use them as interior items that make your daily relaxing time more enjoyable and comfortable.
