OSAJI Co., Ltd., which operates the sensitive-skin brand OSAJI known for proposing a skincare lifestyle for healthy, beautiful skin, is giving its aging care series a full renewal. From November 25, 2026 (Wednesday), the series relaunches nationwide under the new name hisn, with an updated formula and redesigned packaging.
The new formula is built around the skin's turnover process, which tends to become irregular with age. The renewal covers all six products at once — cleansing oil, washing foam, lotion, serum, cream, and eye cream — and the four moisturizing items among them have newly completed efficacy testing confirming they reduce the visibility of fine lines caused by dryness.

Skin shifts a little every day, reflecting daily life and emotion — the days spent laughing, the days spent in tears. For OSAJI, the accumulated time behind those changes, and the depth and composure that come with age, are part of what makes a person's beauty their own. Embracing Age as Part of the Appeal
OSAJI defines aging as "a process in which appeal deepens with time." Rather than treating the physical changes that come with age as something to erase, the brand sees them as something to embrace and enjoy as a positive part of one's own appeal — what OSAJI calls well-aging.
The series name hisn was inspired by the idea of hisureba hana ("what is kept hidden becomes the flower"), a concept from Zeami's Fūshikaden. The composure and depth that come from accumulated experience are, in this view, what make a person's beauty their own — and hisn brings that sense of aesthetics into modern skincare.
A New Formula Focused on Turnover in Mature Skin
hisn is designed around supporting the skin's own natural process of shedding built-up cells, rather than forcibly removing them.
As people age, hormonal changes reduce sebum production and shift the skin's surface toward a neutral-to-alkaline pH. This slows the activity of kallikrein, an enzyme in the stratum corneum that breaks down corneodesmosomes — the structures that hold skin cells together — making turnover more prone to disruption. As a result, dead skin cells build up, leading to rougher texture and dullness.
UV exposure, dryness, and lifestyle factors are also thought to compound oxidation, glycation, and carbonylation over time, accelerating a chain of loss of firmness, wrinkles, sagging, dryness, and dullness. To support skin as it changes with age, hisn combines carefully selected moisturizing and skin-conditioning ingredients that work with these natural processes.

A newly added lactic acid bacteria culture lysate* was selected for its relationship to kallikrein, an enzyme naturally present in the skin. It helps create an environment in which built-up dead skin cells can shed away naturally.

Alpine rose extract¹ is joined by newly added carnosine², delivering moisture to skin that changes with age and helping to prevent dullness and dryness caused by moisture loss.
A moisturizing vitamin C derivative*³ is also included, supporting skin that is more susceptible to external stressors such as dryness. Together, these ingredients address both age-related changes and the skin's day-to-day condition, helping maintain a healthy-looking complexion.

A Renewed Fragrance
The scent centers on an elegant damask rose, joined by the fresh sweetness of geranium and citrus and herbal notes from grapefruit, lemon, and sage, for a floral citrus fragrance.
A soft, comfortable scent that hints at a hidden brilliance accompanies each skincare routine.
While carrying on the rose-based, glamorous character of the previous KAI series, the new fragrance layers in lighter citrus and herbal notes for a scent that fits more easily into everyday life — one designed to be comfortable for anyone, regardless of gender or age.
Packaging Design That Wraps Time
The packaging for hisn was designed by architect Yuko Nagayama.
The name OSAJI derives from "osaji," the doctors of the Edo period who compounded medicine using a spoon (saji). Nagayama approached the design around this idea of "picking up and scooping" as a small daily gesture for adjusting to one's own physical condition, shaping a design that reflects that sense of "prescribing."
The base of the bottle carries a gradient reminiscent of a setting sun, expressing a sense of time and change gradually blurring together. Layered on top is a pattern based on Edo kiriko cut glass, which subtly shifts expression depending on the light and viewing angle — evoking a beauty that quietly emerges from within.
The pump and cap are finished in a copper tone. Copper is a material that deepens in color and develops character the more it is used — an aesthetic of appreciating change over time that resonates with hisn's view of aging in a positive light.
Comment from Yuko Nagayama
The idea of "concealment" behind hisn is an attempt to quietly hold beauty that is stored inside, before it comes to the surface. Working from the idea of "osaji," the spoon that gives OSAJI its name, and the concept of "prescribing," I aimed for a design that carefully receives the delicate sensation of the moment it's picked up.
The base of the bottle carries a gradient reminiscent of a setting sun, wrapping it in a sense of the passage of time and change. Layered on top is a pattern based on Edo kiriko cut glass, which subtly shifts expression with light and angle, adding delicate movement and depth that bring a new dimension to the gradient.
I hope that these subtle layers, in how they look and feel to the touch, offer a comfortable sense of space — and that hisn becomes something that, through everyday gestures, gently draws attention to the changes and sensations within oneself.

After working at Jun Aoki & Associates, Yuko Nagayama established Yuko Nagayama & Associates in 2002.
Her work includes Teshima Yokoo House, the Japan Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, and Tokyu Kabukicho Tower, as well as the Women's Pavilion and the Panasonic Group Pavilion "Nomo no Kuni" at Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai.
She is currently working on projects including Torch Tower. Her books include Kenchiku kara Monogatari o Tsumugu (Graphic-sha) and Kenchiku to Iu Kikkake (Shueisha Shinsho).
