A new model in the Philips i9000 Prestige Ultra electric shaver series goes on sale on June 3, 2026. The XP9406/40 is the first model in the series to include a facial care brush attachment, adding skincare and body grooming capabilities to the brand's flagship rotary shaver lineup.
Philips electric shavers are sold in 123 countries and hold the world's No. 1 position in the body shaver category by retail sales value. Since the company's first shaver launched in 1939, its blades have been manufactured and developed at Philips' own factory in Drachten, the Netherlands.
The i9000 Prestige Ultra series is designed to balance close shaving performance with skin comfort. The new XP9406/40 builds on that foundation with three additional attachments — a facial care brush, a body groomer, and a beard styler — enabling a more complete grooming routine with a single device.

1. Deep Shave: −0.08 mm Below the Skin Surface
Thinner outer blades and Super Lift & Cut technology work together for a close yet comfortable shave. A first lift blade raises stubble, and a second cutting blade cuts it deep. The 72 rotating blades operate at 165,000 cuts per minute, efficiently capturing hairs growing in multiple directions.
2. Five Shaving Modes
In addition to the standard mode, the shaver offers Intense, Foam, Sensitive, and Custom modes. The Custom mode can be personalized further through a dedicated smartphone app.
3. Over-Pressure Sensor, Shaving Motion Sensor, and Light Guide
Finding the right balance of pressure is key to achieving a close shave without skin irritation. An over-pressure sensor monitors how firmly the shaver is pressed against the skin, while a shaving motion sensor tracks the movement of the shaving head. A light ring changes color in real time to help adjust technique on the fly. The guide can be configured to display pressure only, motion only, a combination of both, or switched off entirely.
4. 360° Precision Flex Head
The shaving head is 20% smaller than previous models, allowing it to contour more closely to facial curves and reach areas that are more difficult to shave with a larger head.
5. Beard Density Sensing System
The shaver reads beard density 500 times per second and automatically adjusts motor power to match, delivering consistent results in both sparse and dense areas.
6. SkinProtection Technology Pro
A micro-bead coating on the shaving head — up to 500,000 micro-beads per square centimeter — reduces friction by 50% compared to an uncoated surface, allowing the shaver to glide gently across the skin.
7. European-Made Stainless Steel Blades
Inner blades are made from austenitic stainless steel produced in Sweden — a material used in aerospace applications among others — while the outer blades use hypoallergenic surgical-grade stainless steel. The blades require no oiling and are recommended for replacement approximately once every two years.
8. 3-in-1 Facial Care Brush (Series First)
The included facial care brush combines cleansing, stimulation, and skin conditioning in one attachment. Wavy silicone bristles and flexible tips work to remove sebum, sweat, and impurities while gently massaging the skin.
9. Body Groomer Attachment
A Triple Protect Shave System — rounded blade tips, a low-irritation mesh foil, and a skin guard — makes this attachment suitable for sensitive areas such as underarms.
10. Beard Styler Attachment
Works with included combs for length settings of 1 to 5 mm. Without a comb, the attachment trims to 0.5 mm for shaping beard lines, sideburns, and necklines. A light ring can be switched on to illuminate harder-to-see areas during styling.
