Pompompurin, Sanrio's beloved golden retriever character, is marking its 30th anniversary in 2026 with a special street event titled "Pompompurin: Shiranpurin in Shibuya♪." Three giant 3D Pompompurin objects, each roughly 3 meters in both height and width, have appeared at different spots around Shibuya for a one-week limited run.
An unveiling ceremony was held at the SHIBUYA109 Shibuya store front event space on the opening day, April 15. When the cover was removed, the towering figure drew audible gasps from the crowd. The object depicts Pompompurin lying down alongside its friend Muffin, embodying the character's signature relaxed, carefree style. Pompompurin even spoke to the crowd — "Today, let's not worry about anything difficult, okay?♪" and "Here's hoping you have a Pompompurin kind of day!" — filling the venue with laughter and smiles.
The event's key message for the anniversary year is "Difficult things? I don't know 'em!♪" — an invitation to set aside the stress of daily life and find comfort in Pompompurin's easygoing world.
