About Puyo Puyo

The Puyo Puyo series is an action puzzle game that has been loved around the world for more than 30 years since its release. The original Puyo Puyo appeared in 1991 on MSX2 and Famicom Disk System, and SEGA released the arcade and Mega Drive versions the following year, 1992. Its simple, easy-to-understand rules of connecting four or more "puyo" of the same color to clear them, its cute characters, and its pioneering versus mode among falling-block action puzzle games led to explosive popularity. The series has continued to evolve across home consoles, PCs, smartphones, and other platforms, and is enjoyed by a wide audience across generations.

It also draws attention in the esports scene as a JESU-certified title, with professional players competing in intense matches in Japan and abroad. Puyo Puyo celebrates its 35th anniversary in 2026 and will continue to deliver the fun of "Dairensa" (massive chain combos) to everyone.
