SNOWS, a winter-only confectionery brand born in Hokkaido, will begin selling its 2026-27 season on Sunday, November 1, 2026, at the SNOWS online shop and at four stores inside New Chitose Airport. The brand makes its sweets with a focus on ingredients and flavor, including winter pasture milk from its own dairy farm.
This is the seventh season since the brand was launched in January 2021. Its signature fresh chocolate sandwich cookie, "Snow Sand" (スノーサンド), has sold more than 30 million pieces in total. The brand also continues to make winter-only sweets that capture the flavors of Hokkaido's winter, including the fresh truffle chocolates "Snow Ball" (スノーボール) and the triple chocolate chips "Snow Chips" (スノーチップス).
From November 1, a new product called "Snow Ball Kuro Kuro" (スノーボール くろくろ) joins the lineup at the SNOWS online shop and some stores.

New This Season: Snow Ball Kuro Kuro (スノーボール くろくろ)
"Snow Ball Kuro Kuro" is a fresh truffle chocolate made by wrapping cacao-scented chocolate cream, made with winter pasture milk, in fresh chocolate. It is meant to be enjoyed for its mellow richness.

The filling blends chocolate cream with lightly sweet, airy fresh cream made with winter pasture milk. It is rich, yet leaves a fresh aftertaste. The cream is gently wrapped in smooth fresh chocolate, so the richness of winter milk and the aroma of cacao melt mellowly in the mouth.
Pop-Up Store at Daimaru Tokyo (November 4 to 17)
From Wednesday, November 4 to Tuesday, November 17, 2026, SNOWS will hold its first pop-up store on Honshu this season at Daimaru Tokyo.
"Snow Ball Kuro Kuro" makes its debut at this venue. In the Kanto area, it will be sold only at this pop-up store this season.
Eight products in total will be on sale. Along with the classic items "Snow Sand," "Snow Ball" and "Snow Chips," the lineup includes the macaron baumkuchen "Mori no Miki Shiro" (森ノ幹 白), which returns to Daimaru Tokyo for the first time in about five years.

The Winter Pasture Milk Behind the Flavor
SNOWS makes its sweets with carefully chosen ingredients, starting with "Winter Pasture Milk" from cows raised at its directly operated pasture dairy farm in Hidaka, Hokkaido.
The farm practices year-round grazing, which is unusual even in Hokkaido, and the cows walk freely and live at ease throughout the year. The pasture milk produced this way is rich in flavor, and its taste changes with the seasons as nature changes.
In winter, the cows store fat in the cold, which makes the milk richer and deeper in flavor. This rich flavor gives depth to SNOWS sweets, including the fresh chocolate in Snow Sand. To make the most of what winter pasture milk offers, SNOWS sells its sweets only in winter.
The World of SNOWS
The packaging and motifs of SNOWS sweets use works by Kazuyoshi Otani (大谷一良), a "mountain printmaker." His prints depict quiet, majestic winter mountain ranges. They have an exotic air, yet also feel somehow nostalgic. The mountains in them are not a specific peak, but scenery seen somewhere or mountains from memory.
The brand came across Otani's work while searching for an image that symbolizes winter in Hokkaido. The "scenery of snow and mountains within the heart" depicted there captures the world of SNOWS, a Hokkaido-born sweets brand that holds memories of winter.
Kazuyoshi Otani (大谷一良), 1933–2014
Born in Tokyo, Otani loved mountains throughout his life and worked as a printmaker. He looked up to Umetaro Azechi (畦地梅太郎) and published cover art, illustrations and writing in magazines including "Alp" (アルプ), "Mainberuku" (まいんべるく), "Yama to Keikoku" (山と渓谷), "Kokoro" (心) and "Gakujin" (岳人).
From the 1980s, he held solo and joint exhibitions almost every year. His books include "Yama no Kakera" (山のかけら), "Yama no Ehagaki" (山の絵葉書) and "Kaze no Divertimento" (風のディヴェルティメント), and his co-authored works include "Yama no ABC" (山のABC) and "Wasureenu Yama" (忘れ得ぬ山). He also designed the bindings and illustrations of many mountain-related books.
