Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is adding new collaboration racers via free updates to mark the 35th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog. Starting June 24, 2026 (Wednesday) at 1:00 PM JST, Classic Sonic joins as a new playable racer. Axel from the Crazy Taxi series is scheduled for August 2026, and Amigo from the Samba DE Amigo series is set for September 2026. Each character will come with a specially themed machine.
Classic Sonic Now Available via Free Update
Classic Sonic and the original machine マッハサイクロン are available starting today through a free update. Axel from the Crazy Taxi series and Amigo from the Samba DE Amigo series are coming in future updates.

Limited-Time Collaboration Event: Sonic 35th Anniversary Festa
Starting June 26 (Friday), a special limited-time event celebrating Sonic the Hedgehog's 35th anniversary will take place. The event is an online race divided into three teams competing on total ranking points. Teams face special rules each festa — such as competing for the most タッチダッシュ counts. Accumulating festa points during the event period rewards special in-game items including stickers and horns to customize your machine.

Sonic 35th Anniversary Song "Speed Is My Life" Announced
A new anniversary song, "Speed Is My Life," composed by Sonic series sound director Jun Senoue, celebrates the 35th anniversary of Sonic the Hedgehog. A Japanese version titled "音速を超えて" — arranged by 雄之助 and performed by 初音ミク — and a Chinese version titled "Here We Go ~ Run to the Future" — created and performed by virtual artist 泠鸢yousa — have also been released. Music videos for the English and Chinese versions are now available. All language versions will also be added to the in-game jukebox; some tracks can be set as race BGM.

Update Ver.1.4.1 Now Live
The latest update includes 8 new gadgets, new Sonic series tracks, Chinese voice acting added to in-game voices, 8 classic SEGA game tracks, and various collaboration stickers. New "evolution" gadgets that upgrade your machine when certain conditions are met during a race are now available, along with powerful gadgets like "Just Landing" — which generates overwhelming acceleration after an air trick — that amplify the effects of existing gadgets. A special commemorative gadget inspired by the iconic スピンダッシュ has also been added to mark Sonic's 35th anniversary.
New gadgets require a gadget plate of "Gold Plate" or higher to obtain.

World Championship Announced
The first-ever Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds World Championship 2026 has been announced. The top 24 finalists who advance through the qualifying rounds will be invited to the world championship finals scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026, in New York, USA.
Enhanced Free Trial Now Available
A new machine, エクストリームギア, is being added to the free trial. The trial includes Grand Prix and Time Trial modes, plus machine and gadget customization. Save data carries over to the full game. The trial is available for free on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and Epic Games.
