Japanese design watch brand TACS releases the DAY AND NIGHT 38mm on Friday, October 23, 2026. The watch shows 24 hours with a single hand, and this model comes in a new, smaller size and adds Japan-limited colors to the lineup.
One Day, One Rotation
The DAY AND NIGHT is a watch that ticks slowly at the same speed as the Earth's rotation.
A single hand makes one full turn to show 24 hours, driven by a movement from Swiss maker RONDA. Rather than simply telling the hour and minute, the watch is designed to let the wearer feel the flow of time itself.
The dial is split into upper and lower halves, representing the boundary line between day and night on Earth. The upper half shows daytime hours and the lower half shows nighttime hours, so the wearer can intuitively sense roughly where they are in the day. With no minute hand and no second hand, the single hand moves slowly without rushing the time, letting the wearer feel the flow of 24 hours.

Sand Earth Brown (TS2601A)
This color evokes the color of the earth, with earth tones meant to wrap the day gently. The case, the hand and the two circle parts are finished in silver, while the rest of the watch is in brown-based earth tones reminiscent of the Earth. The brown was kept restrained and natural so that it does not become too dark. It is an unusual shade that is still easy to wear every day.
Flare Gold (TS2601B)
The strong radiance of the sun and the quiet glimmer of the moon share a mysterious color. The case and dial use the gold that has long been used in Japan to depict the sun and the moon, and hairline and sunray finishes and variations in shade give the watch a varied look. Flare Gold expresses the moment when two opposing lights, day and night and sun and moon, cross.
An Update on the Previous Model
Compared with the previous model, the case is smaller at 38mm and the details have been updated for better usability.
- Smaller case: The case diameter goes from 41mm down to 38mm, which makes the watch fit a wider range of wrist sizes and also makes it lighter.
- Separate strap: A two-piece strap construction greatly reduces the thickness for a cleaner feel on the wrist.
- Index design: The graduations are reorganized from 10-minute to 15-minute increments, stripping away information for a cleaner look.

The DAY AND NIGHT shows 24 hours with a single hand, and the time is read from the position of the hand.
6:15 AM: The hand points one graduation past "6," which indicates 6:15 AM.
4:00 PM: The hand points to "16," which indicates 4:00 PM.
