Tescom Launches Foldable Protect Ion Hair Dryer That Shrinks to Palm Size for Travel

The Protect Ion Hair Dryer (プロテクトイオンヘアドライヤー) TEC-A086D from Tescom Denki Co., Ltd. (テスコム電機株式会社), headquartered in Chiyoda, Tokyo, went on sale in mid-October 2026. Its compact design folds down to palm size, so quick drying and hair care are possible even while traveling.

A strong airflow dries hair quickly from the roots, and five modes can be chosen to suit the situation and hair type, so hair care is not compromised. A pouch is included, which makes the dryer easy to carry.

Easy to Carry and Easy to Adjust

When folded, the dryer is palm-sized and fits neatly into a bag or pouch. At about 410 g (Note), it is light enough to bring on trips, business trips, or daily visits to the gym.

The handle rotates 180 degrees and can be set to 5 angles. This makes it easier to direct airflow to hard-to-reach areas such as the back and sides of the head, and it reduces the strain on arms and wrists.
A pouch is included for carrying. It takes up little space in a travel bag and keeps the dryer compact.
A quick cord band is also included, so the power cord can be bundled neatly.

Dries Quickly for Smooth, Glossy Hair

The dryer has a high-speed brushless DC motor that parts the hair with a strong airflow of 62.9 m/s (Note 1) and dries it quickly from the roots. Because the motor has no internal parts that wear down, it has a long life of 1,000 hours (Note 2), and its fan-integrated design makes it more compact (Note 3).

Tescom's original Protect Ion feature releases negative and positive ions at the same time, reducing the static electricity that contributes to frizz and damage. This leaves hair smooth and glossy.

Five Modes for Gentle Care and Targeted Drying

Five modes are available: HIGH, MID, AUTO, SCALP, and COOL. Users can choose the temperature and airflow that suit the situation and hair type.
AUTO automatically switches between warm and cool air at regular intervals. This limits excessive heat damage to the hair and leaves it glossy.
SCALP is used about 3 cm to 5 cm away from the scalp and hairline. The gentle airflow dries the excess moisture left on the scalp, and it helps protect hair and scalp from heat damage.
A styling hood is included to make it easier to aim airflow at the part you want to dry when blow-drying or setting hair. The tip of the hood is easy to hold in place against a brush, and the original design makes styling easier.

Everyday Convenience and Technology Honed in Salons

The sponge inside the filter cover can be removed and rinsed with water, so upkeep is simple and the filter stays clean.
- Note: Let the sponge dry thoroughly after washing. Using the dryer with a wet filter can cause a malfunction.
The easy-release plug can be pulled from the outlet just by pressing a lever.
The dryer comes in three colors: gray, gold, and pearl white. The calm, stylish colors are designed to fit into a daily routine as well as a trip.
