The Universal Studios Store Kansai International Airport officially opened on June 2, 2026, at the new international commercial area developed as part of Terminal 1's Phase 4 renovation at Kansai International Airport (KIX). This is the first permanent Universal Studios Japan official shop to open at a domestic airport in Japan.
An opening ceremony was held on the day, with Woody Woodpecker and Winnie Woodpecker appearing in special 25th anniversary costumes — tying in with Universal Studios Japan's 25th anniversary celebrations. The ribbon-cutting drew cheers from international and domestic visitors gathered outside the store, who then took the opportunity to shop.
Airport-Exclusive Merchandise
The store carries a wide range of products featuring beloved Universal Studios Japan characters such as Mario, Minions, and Hello Kitty. Among the highlights are Kansai International Airport store-exclusive stuffed animals and stuffed animal keychains — including a Curious George version — available only at this location.

The lineup covers travel-friendly items, souvenir gifts, and collectable goods, catering to the diverse needs of visitors from around the world.
Unique In-Store Experiences
In addition to merchandise, the store features two experiences that make time at the airport a little more special before boarding.
Dedicated goods vending machines — the first of their kind to be installed outside the park by Universal Studios Japan — are available at two locations within Terminal 1:
- International departure area (2F, after security checkpoint, beside the Universal Studios Store)
- Domestic departure floor (2F, before security checkpoint)
A photo booth offering frames featuring Universal Studios Japan characters is also set up in the international departure area (2F, after security checkpoint), giving travelers a memorable keepsake before their flight.

Shoppers at the opening shared their thoughts:
- "I visited Universal Studios Japan three days ago and didn't have much time to shop there, so I'm really glad I could shop here at the airport. I'll definitely stop by again the next time I come to Japan." (Traveler in their 30s, from Taiwan)
- "I was looking for Japanese souvenirs and found my kids' favorite characters here — I bought a lot! I can't wait to give them to them when I get home." (Traveler in their 30s, from Germany)
- "A staff member told me these stuffed animals are airport-exclusive, so I picked up the Curious George one. It's so cute!" (Traveler in their 40s, from Taiwan)
