War Thunder's "Sky Odyssey" Update Adds Over 35 New Vehicles, Plus a TGS2026 Stage Event

War Thunder, the multi-combat online game for PC and PlayStation 4 & 5 that DMM GAMES offers in collaboration with Gaijin Entertainment, received a major update called "Sky Odyssey" on Wednesday, September 16, 2026.

Named after the ancient Greek epic "The Odyssey," the Sky Odyssey update introduces Greek aircraft and ground vehicles, along with a wide range of other new vehicles from countries including Australia, India, and Indonesia. Beyond the new vehicles, the update also strengthens the overall play experience through changes to existing game mechanics, including improved bomber survivability and a revamped hangar UI.

DMM GAMES is also holding a War Thunder stage event at its Tokyo Game Show 2026 booth starting at 12:00 PM on Sunday, September 20, 2026. The stage event is scheduled to be livestreamed, and various commemorative campaigns are running alongside it with chances to win limited items and other prizes.

New Vehicles from Around the World, Plus Permanently Available Battle Events

The Sky Odyssey update adds more than 35 new vehicles. With Greece joining the game, top-tier vehicles such as the Hellenic Air Force's Mirage 2000-5EG and the Hellenic Army's Leopard 2A6 HEL are now available, alongside less common vehicles including Australia's CA-27 jet fighter, India's Arjun Mk 1 main battle tank, and Indonesia's Harimau.

Featured New Vehicles

F-102A Delta Dagger

The American F-102A Delta Dagger, developed by General Dynamics, was the world's first mass-produced supersonic delta-wing interceptor and an all-weather supersonic interceptor, designed during the Cold War to intercept Soviet nuclear-capable bombers. Armed with AIM-4 Super Falcon air-to-air missiles, it is War Thunder's first aircraft to carry missiles only, with no fixed gun armament.

Ki-93

Japan's Ki-93 is a ground-attack aircraft developed by the Imperial Japanese Army Aviation Technology Research Institute and the Army Air Arsenal as a successor to the Type 99 Assault Plane. It features Japan's first six-blade propeller and its first air-cooled 18-cylinder engine, the Mitsubishi Ha-214, along with a dedicated, powerful Ho-402 57mm fixed cannon.

EMBT

The EMBT, a joint German-French project, is a European Main Battle Tank developed by KMW and Nexter Defense Systems. It mounts a new, lighter-weight autoloading turret — adapted from France's Leclerc S2 — onto the hull of Germany's Leopard 2A7 main battle tank, bringing together German and French tank-building technology in a single vehicle.

AW159 Wildcat HMA2

The British AW159 Wildcat HMA2, developed by AgustaWestland from the Super Lynx 300 multi-role helicopter, can carry up to 20 Martlet lightweight multi-role missiles or Spike NLOS anti-tank guided missiles. This shipborne variant is equipped with radar for maritime use.

HMS Lion

Naval vessels are also part of the update. Britain's HMS Lion was an unfinished battleship laid down by the Royal Navy in response to intelligence on Japan's large battleships. An improvement on the preceding King George V-class, its 1939 configuration is fitted with new 16-inch/45 BL Mk II guns, the most powerful available in the British tech tree.

The update also adds a new map, "Darwin Hill," inspired by the Falkland Islands, and makes the previously time-limited battle events "Nuclear Escalation," "Naval Confrontation," and "Bullet Hell" permanently available. Bomber damage models have been reworked based on historical research, and the hangar UI has been refined as part of the broader mechanics update. Full details on the Sky Odyssey update are available on the official site.
