About This Event

The Miharu Takizakura in Miharu Town, Fukushima Prefecture, stands as one of Japan's Three Great Cherry Trees with an estimated age of over 1,000 years. Designated as a National Natural Monument, this magnificent tree is a weeping cherry of the Edohigan variety, commanding an impressive presence with a height of 13.5 meters and a trunk circumference of 11.3 meters. True to its name, the pale pink blossoms cascade from its sprawling branches like a waterfall, creating a breathtaking natural masterpiece. During the annual spring blooming season, visitors can enjoy the grand spectacle of the entire canopy bathed in soft pink during the day, while nighttime illumination transforms the tree into an enchanting sight. Throughout the viewing period, temporary parking lots are established in the surrounding area, and temporary shuttle buses operate from JR Miharu Station, making it easily accessible from Tokyo via the Shinkansen. The beauty of this thousand-year-old cherry tree in full bloom, representing the essence of Japanese spring, leaves a lasting impression on all who visit.
