The Atami Onsen area has long been loved as a historic hot spring destination, and with its convenient access from the Tokyo metropolitan area, it remains a popular getaway. During the day, the streets of the hot spring town and the seaside attractions are lively with visitors, while in the evening the atmosphere becomes more relaxed. Around Atami Station, you'll find a mix of traditional izakayas and small bars, making it possible to enjoy bar hopping at two or three venues within walking distance. Options range from casual spots frequented by locals to places more oriented toward tourists. In contrast, in the areas where hot spring ryokan are concentrated, it is more common to enjoy meals and drinks within the accommodations, and choices for bar hopping outside are limited. For those who want to combine sightseeing with casual drinking, the station area is especially recommended. Pairing hot springs with food and nightlife makes for a unique evening in Atami.
