◆Izu, Atami, Shimoda – Food & Nightlife
The Izu, Atami, and Shimoda area is a popular destination known for its hot springs and beautiful coastline, bustling with travelers during the day who come for sightseeing and onsen experiences. In Atami's city center, there are clusters of izakayas and restaurants around the station, making it possible to enjoy casual bar hopping at two or three places within walking distance. From long-established local pubs to seafood restaurants catering to visitors, the area offers a lively atmosphere even at night. In contrast, Shimoda and other parts of Izu are more resort- and onsen-focused, with fewer dining and nightlife options in the evening, making them better suited for a relaxed night at a single venue. Many restaurants highlight fresh seafood and regional specialties, providing a memorable dining experience to end the day. Overall, Atami offers casual izakaya-hopping opportunities, while Shimoda and the hot spring towns of Izu provide a quieter, more indulgent evening.
