◆Hida Takayama & Shirakawa-go – Food & Nightlife

The Hida Takayama and Shirakawa-go area is a destination rich in history and surrounded by beautiful nature. Takayama, often called "Little Kyoto of Hida," features a well-preserved old town with izakayas and eateries scattered throughout, making it possible to enjoy bar hopping at two or three venues within walking distance. In the local izakayas, you can enjoy drinks along with specialties such as Hida beef and regional dishes in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. In contrast, Shirakawa-go, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is lively with tourists during the day but turns into a quiet village of traditional gassho-zukuri houses at night, with only limited dining options available. For nightlife, the Takayama area is more suitable. Combining sightseeing with the experience of izakaya culture is one of the unique charms of this region.
