This is an event held only a few days a year in Shirakawa-go, Gifu Prefecture, where the UNESCO World Heritage gassho-zukuri village is illuminated. The sight of lights illuminating snow-covered thatched roofs is like stepping into a fairy tale world. The scenery that emerges in the pure white snow landscape under the clear winter night sky is a sight that should be visited at least once in a lifetime.
The light-up event requires advance reservations, so tickets must be arranged in advance. In recent years, this event has attracted high attention from both domestic and international visitors, so those interested should apply early.
Travel to Shirakawa-go in a 10-seater vehicle. Of the 4 days of operation, January 12 and 18 will have a Chinese-speaking driver accompanying all day. January 25 and February 1 will have an English-speaking driver accompanying all day.
Depart from Nagoya Station, stop at the famous tourist spot "Hida-Takayama Historic District" known for its old townscape, then head to Shirakawa-go. After the light-up ends, return to Nagoya Station on this day tour.

About Hida-Takayama Historic District
The "historic district" remaining in Takayama City, Gifu Prefecture is a historical area that preserves the atmosphere of castle towns and merchant towns from the Edo period. Traditional wooden buildings line the streets, with sake breweries, souvenir shops, and cafes, earning it the nickname "Little Kyoto of Hida". The charming scenery that shows different expressions throughout the four seasons attracts many tourists.
