HANA・BIYORI's Bamboo Illumination Event 'HANAakari' Gets Upgraded for 2025

HANA・BIYORI, the innovative flower park operated by Yomiuriland Corporation, announces an upgraded version of its "HANAakari - HANA・BIYORI × Bamboo Lanterns" event, launching on October 23, 2025.

"HANAakari" is a Japanese-style illumination event where the entire park is enveloped in soft light through bamboo lantern objects and elegantly illuminated trees, flowers, and cultural properties. This year introduces several new spots including "Touka Tairin" (Grand Illuminated Bloom) and "Waakari no Yagura" (Japanese Light Tower). The upgraded version is once again created by CHIKAKEN, a bamboo lantern production group aiming for coexistence with nature.

Visitors can enjoy this Japanese-style illumination, which offers a different atmosphere from the vibrant illuminations at the neighboring Yomiuriland amusement park.

About CHIKAKEN - Bamboo Lantern Production Team

~A bamboo lantern production group spreading bamboo lanterns as a new Japanese culture and aiming for coexistence with nature~

A unit centered around Chikao Ikeda and Kenji Mishiro, who met at Sojo University in Kumamoto Prefecture.

Based on the "Festival-Style Community Development" advocated by their mentor Professor Keiichi Uchimaru, they established "CHIKAKEN," a bamboo lantern production and production group, in April 2007. Based in Kumamoto, they continue to light bamboo lanterns across Japan, creating unique "landscapes" and "stories" for each location.

They aim for bamboo lanterns that connect "people to people, people to towns, and people to nature" to be inherited as a new Japanese "culture" rather than being consumed as a one-time "business." In addition to festivals created in collaboration with local communities nationwide, they develop bamboo lantern productions as a new Japanese aesthetic. They exhibited bamboo lanterns as a new Japanese culture at the G7 Ise-Shima Summit (May 2016) spouse program dinner venue and the G7 Hiroshima Summit (May 2023) government public relations exhibition area.
