Hello! This is Arimi from the Holiday Travel editorial team ✨
Our long Fukuoka and Nagasaki business trip is finally coming to an end. We toured the Goto Islands in Nagasaki Prefecture, so I'm sharing what we discovered on each island!
This time, I'm introducing Uku Island, the northernmost island of the Goto Islands!
A Remote Island with Charming Pastoral Landscapes and Pristine White Beaches
Uku Island is a peaceful island accessible by ferry from Sasebo. It's a healing destination where time flows slowly, offering serene countryside scenery and beautiful coastlines.
The island's authentic, unhurried atmosphere was incredibly refreshing. It hasn't been overly commercialized, which adds to its natural charm and tranquility.
My Favorite Spots on Uku Island
Konoura Townscape
The Konoura area features a quiet cove lined with a traditional fishing village. Historically, this was the island's main port, and you can still feel that maritime heritage in the atmosphere.
Ohama Beach
Ohama Beach has been selected as one of Japan's "Top 100 Beaches for Bathing." It features stunning white sand and cobalt blue waters that rival any tropical paradise.
Stay tuned for more articles about other islands in the Goto Archipelago!
