Finnish lifestyle brand Arabia is adding new pieces to its "Runo Summer Ray" pattern within the Runo tableware collection, launching at Arabia's official online store and authorized retailers across Japan on April 8, 2026.
The Runo Collection – A "Visual Poem" for the Table
The name "Runo" comes from the Finnish word for "poem," and the collection draws its inspiration from nature and the changing seasons. Characterized by bold, all-over decorations that cover the entire surface of each piece, Runo has been expanding since its debut in 2009 with seasonal designs including Spring Drop, Summer Ray, Autumn Glow, and Winter Star.
The collection was created by Finnish ceramic artist Heini Riitahuhta, who grew up dreaming of becoming a poet. The name "Runo" reflects that personal memory, and the collection embodies her wish for everyday tableware users to create their own unique "visual poem."
Runo Summer Ray – Early-Summer Botanicals in Arabia's Decorative Tradition
The Runo Summer Ray design captures the light, lively rhythm of early-summer wildflowers in gentle seasonal light. Centered on the Runo collection's signature deep ink-blue, the pattern gives greater prominence to pink alongside green, with red accents adding a breezy rhythm throughout.
The all-over surface decoration is a hallmark of Arabia's long tradition of incorporating artistic ornamentation into everyday tableware. The botanical motifs — flowers, clusters, and buds — all originated in Riitahuhta's imagination; a single flower often blends characteristics from multiple plant species, creating an organic, life-affirming feel. All of the plant motifs were created by hand, and their delicate touch and individuality are faithfully reflected in the finished decoration.
An Expanded Lineup for Versatile Table Coordination
Four new pieces are being added to the Runo Summer Ray lineup, which made its return in 2025 and is now expanding further this spring:

Each item carries its own distinct expression of the pattern, making a striking statement on its own while also allowing the design to flow continuously when pieces are combined. Runo Summer Ray is a seasonal collection for 2026. Items from the 2025 release with different pattern variations are also scheduled to go back on sale on the same day as the new additions.
