Chichibu Night Street: Irodori Sanpo Returns With Its First-Ever Autumn Edition

Chichibu City and its local tourism association are lighting up streets and temple grounds across Chichibu, Saitama Prefecture, with "Chichibu Night Street: Irodori Sanpo," a nighttime walking event starting September 18 (Friday).

The event has previously run in winter, but this year brings its first-ever autumn edition, timed to the fall foliage season. It also runs through November 30, the finale of the Chichibu Fudasho Year of the Horse Grand Opening, held only once every 12 years.

Chichibu Shrine, along with Jigen-ji (pilgrimage temple 13) and Shorin-ji (pilgrimage temple 15), will be lit up in an autumn-toned, modern take on traditional lighting. At Myoken no Mori Park, the main venue, a projection-mapping display returns on the dome of Japanese umbrellas that proved popular in previous runs.

A range of events, some held for the first time, will take place throughout the light-up period, giving visitors more reasons to explore each illuminated site.
