Katanukiya, a specialty shop known for its pop-out baumkuchen, is launching a Chiikawa collaboration. Three ribbon-themed katanuki baum (pop-out baumkuchen) featuring the characters from illustrator Nagano's popular manga Chiikawa go on sale at Chiikawa Land stores from July 3, 2026 (Friday).
A Playful Ribbon-Themed Baumkuchen Inspired by Chiikawa
The new baumkuchen feature a moist flat-baked baumkuchen base layered with a white-baked pound cake made with egg whites, topped with printed designs and cutouts of Chiikawa, Hachiware, and Usagi — all dressed up with cute ribbons. Carefully peel away the surrounding dough without breaking the characters' shapes, and they pop out cleanly. It's a treat that combines cuteness, playfulness, and great taste in one satisfying experience.
