"Hanami Sauna Fest 2026" at COMORIVER: Outdoor Saunas and a Clear River Under Cherry Blossoms

COMORIVER, a 12-room outdoor resort situated along the Tokigawa River in Tokigawa Town, Saitama, is hosting the "Hanami Sauna Fest 2026" on March 28 (Saturday) and 29 (Sunday), 2026. The event brings together outdoor saunas, cherry blossom viewing, and the resort's signature clear-stream setting for a two-day-only spring experience.

Cherry trees line the riverbanks at COMORIVER, and late March is when Saitama's sakura season typically begins. If conditions align, guests may be able to enjoy the saunas with blossoms in full bloom overhead.

Sauna Facilities at COMORIVER

The resort offers a variety of sauna experiences. Private saunas available for exclusive use include the Estonian-made "Igloo Sauna" and the "Sauna Mökki," a recreation of a traditional Finnish sauna cabin. The public sauna area "moku" features the "ASEMA," a sauna trailer with a wood-burning stove, as well as a rare converted camper van called the "Sauna Wagon," an Igloo Sauna unit, and two types of cold plunge baths.

7 Activities at Hanami Sauna Fest 2026

The event features seven contents combining cherry blossom viewing, Nordic sauna culture, the clear river, and campfire.

Seven contents of Hanami Sauna Fest 2026

① Hanami Relaxation Area

A dedicated outdoor relaxation area will be set up where guests can lie back in hammocks and look up at the cherry trees. A campfire will also be available to warm up after cooling down in the fresh air.

② Special Cherry Blossom Löyly

A special sauna steam ritual (löyly) featuring a cherry blossom scent will be performed. Depending on the bloom conditions, the scent may be drawn directly from COMORIVER's own cherry trees.

③ House-Made Smoked Makkara and Smoked Nuts

Makkara — a classic Nordic sauna food — along with smoked nuts will be prepared in-house and provided to guests. The combination of sauna and house-smoked food is a relatively rare offering. Note: these are not all-you-can-eat portions.

④ River Slide into the Clear Stream

A slide that launches directly into the flowing river is set up on-site. This has consistently been the most popular activity among past event participants.

⑤ Relaxation Space on the River

Cooling-down chairs are arranged directly on the river surface, letting guests listen to and feel the clear stream while relaxing in the middle of nature.

⑥ Aroma Löyly Guessing Game

Staff will pour löyly using a bucket of mystery aroma oil, and guests are challenged to identify what scent is being used.

⑦ Free Admission Ticket to Tamagawa Onsen

All participants receive a free admission ticket to Tamagawa Onsen, a retro Showa-era public hot spring bath nearby. The waters are a strongly alkaline natural hot spring at pH 10, known for their silky texture, making it a fitting way to wind down after a full day of saunas.
