A new premium dining option is coming to Edomaekisen, a yakatabune (Japanese houseboat) cruise operator based in Shinkiba, Koto Ward, Tokyo. Starting June 1, 2026, passengers will be able to enjoy black wagyu beef fillet steak as an optional add-on during their cruise around Tokyo Bay and the Sumida River. Advance reservations for the new menu item opened on May 11, 2026.
Edomaekisen's yakatabune cruises have long attracted both domestic and international visitors, offering all-you-can-eat monjayaki (Tokyo-style savory pancakes) and all-you-can-drink while taking in Tokyo's iconic scenery. In recent years, the cruise has seen a notable rise in international guests and passengers celebrating special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries. In response to growing requests for a more luxurious Japanese ingredient on board, the company is now introducing black wagyu beef fillet — renowned for its tenderness and refined umami — as an optional menu item.
Cook Your Own Wagyu at the Table
One of the standout features of this new option is the hands-on experience: guests cook the wagyu fillet themselves on the iron griddle (teppan) right in front of them, grilling it to their preferred doneness. As the boat drifts past Tokyo Skytree and Rainbow Bridge, the aroma of wagyu sizzling on the hot plate fills the cabin — combining spectacular views with a premium taste of Japanese culinary culture.
