Fukunoya's "Gohan Tomaranran" Rice Condiment Series Surpasses 2.2 Million Cumulative Sales

Fukunoya, the sister brand of Fukuoka-based mentaiko specialist Fukuya, has announced that its popular "Gohan Tomaranran" rice condiment series has surpassed a cumulative total of 2.2 million units sold since its launch on December 13, 2017 (as of the end of May 2026).

About Gohan Tomaranran

Product Features

"Gohan Tomaranran" is made by combining mentaiko with cottonseed oil — known as the "king of salad oils" — to lock in the rich umami of mentaiko within each jar. Beyond the classic pairing with steamed rice, the product has earned a devoted following for its versatility: it works equally well in onigiri, tamagokake gohan (egg on rice), fried rice, pasta, and more. The ability to store it at room temperature and the ease with which it brings mentaiko flavor to everyday meals have made it a popular choice not only as a daily table condiment, but also for gifts and small presents.

Three Varieties to Suit Every Palate

Gohan Tomaranran Mentaiko

Gohan Tomaranran Mentaiko
Mentaiko is combined with cottonseed oil to seal in the full depth of its umami. The satisfying pop of the mentaiko roe and its irresistible flavor make this a rice pairing that is hard to put down.

Gohan Tomaranran Mentai Chirimen

Gohan Tomaranran Mentai Chirimen
This variety brings together mentaiko and chirimen (small dried whitebait) from Awaji Island, blended with premium cottonseed oil to capture the best of both ingredients in one jar. The rich umami of the mentaiko is followed by a lingering savory note from the chirimen, creating a harmony of flavors in every bite.

Gohan Tomaranran Tori Soboro Mentai

Gohan Tomaranran Tori Soboro Mentai
A slightly sweet seasoned ground chicken (soboro) is accented by the spice of mentaiko and a hint of ginger. It allows anyone to easily recreate a tori soboro donburi or a tori soboro bento at home, making it a convenient option for busy mornings or everyday meals. (Launched March 10, 2020)
