To celebrate the World Heritage listing of the Ancient Capitals of Asuka and Fujiwara, Izasa Nakatani Honpo — the Nara specialty sushi brand known for kakinoha-zushi (persimmon-leaf wrapped sushi) — has begun selling a limited-edition package called Kakinoha-zushi "Asuka" Assortment through its official online shop and other outlets. The brand is run by Nakatani Honpo Co., Ltd. (headquartered in Kamikitayama Village, Yoshino District, Nara Prefecture).
Izasa has long-standing ties to the region, operating two stores in Kashihara City, home to the Fujiwara Palace Site, one of the components of the newly listed heritage. The brand created this new product in hopes that the World Heritage listing will bring even more energy to the area.
Kakinoha-zushi "Asuka" Assortment (¥1,036, Tax Included)

The limited-edition package features an illustration evoking the Fujiwara-kyo capital of centuries past, with a vivid vermilion theme color inspired by the vermilion-painted pillars of the era. The product has been certified as a recommended item by the group supporting the Ancient Capitals of Asuka and Fujiwara.
Each pack contains six pieces of kakinoha-zushi — three mackerel and three salmon — in a size that's easy to eat, making it a great choice for a small gift.
