A spring regional sumo tour, the Grand Sumo Ariake Basho (令和9年春巡業 大相撲有明場所), will be held at Ariake Arena in Koto City, Tokyo, on Thursday, April 15, 2027. Many popular wrestlers are scheduled to take part, including Yokozuna Onosato (大の里), who won the Autumn Tournament, Yokozuna Hoshoryu (豊昇龍), and Ozeki Kotozakura (琴櫻), Kirishima (霧島), and Aonishiki (安青錦).
Visitors can watch bouts with the intensity of an official tournament up close. The program also includes "shokkiri" (初切), a comical demonstration of sumo's forbidden moves, and "sumo jinku" (相撲甚句), a traditional performing art in which the wrestlers sing. The day is designed to appeal to everyone from first-time viewers to sumo fans. Many food trucks will also set up both inside and outside the venue, so there is plenty to enjoy throughout the day.
