The new package visual for Hatsune Miku V6 has been revealed, featuring artwork by illustrator and character designer LAM. The voice synthesis software is scheduled for official release on April 14, 2026.

Alongside the new visual, an English singing demonstration video has also been released. The demo features one chorus of Like a Shooting Star, an original commemorative song written by US-based music creator Crusher. The track showcases the enhanced natural vocal expression achievable through Hatsune Miku V6's generation parameters.
Hatsune Miku V6 comes bundled with the DAW software Cubase LE, allowing users to begin music production (DTM) on a computer right away. Pre-orders are already open via the digital creator download store SONICWIRE.

A Look at the New Design
According to Wataru Sasaki, the producer who has been involved in developing Hatsune Miku since the project began in 2007, the new design was commissioned from LAM with future multilingual support and engine technology updates in mind.
LAM created a design where a refreshingly modern atmosphere coexists with a universal sense of what Hatsune Miku is. At first glance, it might appear entirely simple, or more vividly cute, or cool and delicate — yet on closer inspection, it doesn't quite fit any of those descriptions. I feel LAM has captured that essence of "Hatsune Miku-ness" here.
Regarding the voice quality, Sasaki noted that feedback gathered during the Early Access period that began in December 2025 was incorporated in collaboration with engineers at Yamaha, resulting in a comprehensive refinement. Additional elements are also being prepared for the official release on April 14.
At around the time of Hatsune Miku V6's release, development of the next VOCALOID — one that is even more proficient in English — should also be getting underway in earnest.
Hatsune Miku and Vocaloid Culture
The internet-born creative culture now known as "Vocaloid culture" traces its roots back to the original Hatsune Miku software, released in 2007. As music created with the software was shared across the internet, a chain of creativity spanning illustrations, songs, and dance spread worldwide, sparking a genuine cultural phenomenon.
Today, Hatsune Miku is active across a wide range of fields as a "virtual singer." In Japan, the event Hatsune Miku "Magical Mirai" — which combines a live concert with an exhibition celebrating the joy of creation — has drawn a cumulative audience of over 580,000 since 2013. In 2026, it will be held across three cities: Osaka, Tokyo, and Hamamatsu. Internationally, the world tour series HATSUNE MIKU EXPO has toured 50 cities with 120 performances to date; after completing Asia's first-ever Miku Expo tour in November 2025, a North America tour and a Europe tour are planned for 2026.
