Background of the Store Opening
In recent years, following the recovery of inbound tourism demand after COVID-19 and the impact of the weak yen, the number of foreign tourists visiting Japan has increased significantly. However, issues such as overtourism with people concentrated in specific tourist areas and decreased satisfaction due to crowding have become apparent. The current situation makes it difficult to deepen understanding of local areas and Japanese culture through transit-style and consumption-oriented tourism where visitors simply tour famous spots. In response to this background, YASUMI WORKS aimed to provide high-quality experiential content that allows deeper immersion in Japanese culture.
Bonsai, the focus of this workshop, is attracting worldwide attention as a Japanese aesthetic, and in recent years, with the emergence of bonsai cafes, it is being reevaluated as a culture accessible to younger generations and international audiences. However, due to high costs and quarantine issues during travel, many experiences remain limited to observation only. Therefore, this workshop uses artificial materials that require no quarantine, providing an experience where participants can learn bonsai basics and appeal while creating according to their own sensibilities. Through creative hands-on experiences, the aim is to clearly communicate Japanese culture to the world while creating memorable new tourism experiences.
Message from the Founder
Representative Director and President: Ayumi Nakahama

At YASUMI WORKS, which I founded, we value that the time spent creating itself becomes an experience that relaxes the mind, and we have been developing experiential workshops in various locations.
This bonsai workshop was born from the desire to enjoy bonsai, a traditional Japanese culture, more freely and intuitively. Even without knowledge or experience, by moving your hands according to your own sensibilities, you can complete a one-of-a-kind work.
As a travel memory and as something that gently accompanies daily life, I hope this mini-bonsai creates a small margin in everyone's life.
About YASUMI WORKS
From adult playfulness to moving cities and society. YASUMI WORKS is a company that plans and operates experiences themed around creating holidays, starting from adult playfulness and curiosity. What we value is not doing things well, but feeling excited. Rather than correct answers, we focus on the feeling of wanting to try. We pick up sensations and signs that haven't yet been put into words from trends, social media, and the social atmosphere, edit them into forms that suit the current times, and quickly deliver them to the world as workshops and experiential stores. For those who want to try something new, spend memorable holidays that leave lasting impressions, be with someone, and return a bit to childhood. While responding to such thoughts, we continue to create entry points for play that slightly extend beyond daily life. Playfulness doesn't end with individual enjoyment; it creates people's flow in cities and eventually becomes a force that moves society. Your holiday becomes a trigger, connecting to cities and society, creating a chain reaction. We will continue to deliver such holidays.
