As part of "Journey to Tomorrow," the sustainability initiative led by InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Hotel Indigo Inuyama Urakuen will display a special Christmas tree crafted by reclaimed-material artist Seiya Kaji. Built from reclaimed materials, the dynamic tree pairs Japanese-inspired motifs drawn from Inuyama's history and culture with vividly colored ornaments distinctive to Hotel Indigo, creating a festive space where tradition and a contemporary sensibility come together in harmony. After Christmas, the tree transforms into a New Year decoration infused with Japanese aesthetic sensibility, taking on a new expression with the turning of the season. About the Artist: Seiya Kaji
Born in 1996 in Murakami City, Niigata Prefecture. A graduate of Nagaoka Institute of Design's Department of Arts and Crafts, Kaji worked at Kaikai Kiki, the studio of artist Takashi Murakami, after graduating. He later joined a local revitalization corps program, working to energize the community through art in Tochio, Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture, and now works independently as an artist creating life-size animals from reclaimed materials. In 2024, he opened the studio "sokoso-ko," where he produces and stores his work and holds open-studio days and exhibition events.
