Hotel New Otani Osaka is offering two special plans for the Tenjin Festival — one of Japan's three great festivals — taking place on July 25, 2026 (Saturday). Both plans include reserved viewing seats (桟敷席) for the festival's traditional boat procession (Funatogyo) and fireworks display, combined with hotel dining.
Watching the Funatogyo and Fireworks from Reserved Seats
The Tenjin Festival, alongside the Kanda Festival (Tokyo) and the Gion Festival (Kyoto), is considered one of Japan's three great festivals, drawing around 1.3 million visitors each year from across Japan and beyond.
The festival's highlights include the "Funatogyo" boat procession, where over 100 boats travel up the Okawa River amid the sounds of the traditional Osaka hand-clapping known as "Osaka-jime." After dark, more than 3,000 fireworks illuminate the Osaka night sky in the "Honou Hanabi" display.

Both plans include approximately 100 reserved viewing seats on the opposite bank from the Mint Bureau (造幣局), offering a front-row vantage point for both the Funatogyo and the fireworks. A dedicated shuttle bus transports guests from the hotel to the venue, with hotel staff on hand to guide them.
Restaurant Plan: Dinner at One of Five Hotel Restaurants

The Restaurant Plan allows guests to choose dinner from five restaurants before heading to the festival:
- French cuisine "SAKURA" (18F): A full-course dinner featuring seasonal summer ingredients, with views of Osaka Castle.
- Teppanyaki "Keyaki" (18F): Black Wagyu fillet or sirloin along with seasonal vegetables and seafood, cooked on the iron griddle.
- Chinese cuisine "Daikanyen" (3F): Full-course Shanghai cuisine including braised whole shark's fin and Peking duck.
- Kappo "Kidokoro Isshin" (B1F): Refined Japanese cuisine paired with carefully selected sake from across Japan.
- Japanese cuisine "Hanagairo" (3F): Seasonal Japanese dishes accompanied by curated sake from around the country.

Stay Plan: Unagi-ju Dinner and High-Floor Rooms with Osaka Castle Views

The Stay Plan includes a summer dinner featuring Unagi-ju (grilled eel over rice). The eel is sourced from the Osumi Peninsula in Kagoshima Prefecture, where high-quality groundwater produces fattier, richly flavored eels. It is prepared using the traditional Edo-style steaming technique, resulting in a soft, fluffy texture with a crispy, savory skin.

Guests stay in high-floor Deluxe Rooms or Suite Rooms overlooking Osaka Castle Park. The "Gold Key Service" included with these rooms comes with perks such as morning coffee, welcome drinks, and restaurant and bar vouchers.
