Hotel Nikko Himeji, located in front of JR Himeji Station in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture, is welcoming a new member to its original mascot family "Himeneko." Starting Tuesday, September 1, 2026, the hotel will begin selling "Tabby," a new character joining the lineup alongside concierge mascot "Shiro" and restaurant attendant mascot "Mike." As the hotel's PR representative, Tabby will cheerfully share the charms of Hotel Nikko Himeji, seasonal events, and recommended information. With her cute expression and approachable personality, Tabby joins "Shiro" and "Mike" in aiming to become a character loved by even more guests.
Tabby Profile
A girl with a mackerel tabby coat and a pink ribbon as her charm point. Her name comes from her striped pattern, known in English as a "Mackerel Tabby." Tabby grew up overseas and has returned to Japan, and now serves as the "PR representative" for Hotel Nikko Himeji. She runs around the hotel every day to help more guests discover its charms. She has a knack for finding new photo spots and adorable sweets, and can't help striking a pose whenever a camera comes out. Sometimes she gets so enthusiastic that she ends up looking like the star of the photo herself. Her go-to phrase is "Kawaii!" (So cute!)
About Himeneko
On June 29, 2025, to mark the hotel's 20th anniversary, the original mascots "Shiro" and "Mike" were born. The characters were inspired by an anecdote about Princess Sen (Senhime), who had ties to Himeji Castle and was said to have doted on cats. Wearing matching ribbons with little bells that jingle as they go, they explore the hotel every day and greet guests.
