About Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress
Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress is a TV anime that aired on Fuji TV from April 7 to June 30, 2016. Set during a time of industrial revolution, the story follows the rise of undead monsters known as Kabane — creatures whose hearts are encased in steel and who can only be destroyed by a direct shot through that armor. Those bitten by Kabane die and are reborn as the same, spreading rapidly until the entire world is consumed.
The people of the island nation of Hinomoto have survived by building fortress-like stations and traveling only by armored steam locomotive, known as Hayajiro. Among them is Ikoma, a young steam smith at Aragane Station who has secretly developed a weapon called the Piercing Gun to defeat the Kabane. When disaster strikes and the Kabane overrun the station, Ikoma's battle to become someone he can be proud of begins.
