On Sunday, July 26, 2026, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee announced the inscription of "Asuka-Fujiwara: Archaeological Sites of Japan's Ancient Capitals and Related Properties" as a World Heritage Site. Kashihara City, part of the Asuka-Fujiwara area, is marking both its 70th anniversary as a city and this year's World Heritage inscription with a joint public-private celebration: the 70th-anniversary event "KASHIHARA SKY PALETTE."
The event is divided into a daytime program and an evening program, and the evening program that closes out this milestone day will feature "Manyo Hanabi supported by Anker." KONO JUNKI of JO1, who hails from Nara Prefecture, has been confirmed as the fireworks show's official ambassador.
The fireworks themselves are produced by Great Sky Art Co., Ltd., a professional team known for pioneering "artistic fireworks" that fuse pyrotechnics with music. Music from JO1, the group KONO JUNKI belongs to, will also be used in the show, which synchronizes music and fireworks down to 1/30th of a second for a new style of fireworks entertainment.
KONO JUNKI and a team with ties to Nara will come together to close out this special year, one that combines Kashihara's 70th anniversary with the long-awaited, now-official World Heritage inscription that the region has worked toward for years.

KONO JUNKI was selected by viewer vote on the survival audition show "PRODUCE 101 JAPAN" and debuted in 2020 as a member of the global boy group JO1. Every single that the group has released since debuting has topped the major music charts. In 2025, JO1 held a world tour spanning six cities and their first solo concert at Tokyo Dome, and in 2026 the group is set to release "ANIMAL," their U.S. debut, on October 2, followed by a North American tour, expanding their activities both in Japan and overseas. As the group's main vocalist, KONO JUNKI leads JO1 while also actively appearing on TV programs and in dramas, broadening his range of activity alongside his work as an artist.

Paid seats for Manyo Hanabi, one of the event's highlights that let visitors enjoy fireworks synchronized with music, go on sale today at 6:00 PM. Fireworks choreographed to JO1 songs performed by official ambassador KONO JUNKI are also planned, and he is expected to make an in-person appearance on the day. Under the venue's terms of use, guests in the Anker Premium Box Seat and Anker Premium Seat areas are asked not to wear spiked or high-heeled shoes, bring strollers, or smoke (including e-cigarettes).
To ensure the best view for the greatest number of guests, all visitors are asked to remain seated in their own area while the fireworks are underway.
Depending on where you are seated, the stage and other visual elements may be difficult to see.
Preschool-age children may attend free of charge when seated on an adult's lap; a ticket is required if using a seat of their own.
