Kirin Brewery Company, Limited (President Hideki Horiguchi) is bringing autumn to store shelves nationwide from Tuesday, August 25, 2026, with a limited-quantity release of three design cans: the KIRIN ICHIBAN Limited Autumn Thermochromic Ink Design Can, the KIRIN ICHIBAN Zero Sugar Limited Autumn Thermochromic Ink Design Can, and the KIRIN ICHIBAN White Beer Limited Autumn Thermochromic Ink Design Can (350ml and 500ml cans). The White Beer version is sold only as a 350ml can.
KIRIN ICHIBAN Nama Beer has been supported by many drinkers for more than 35 years, brewed using the "ichiban-shibori" method, which uses only the first, best-tasting wort that runs off during the mashing and filtering process. Last year, the lineup grew with the launch of KIRIN ICHIBAN White Beer, a high-quality white beer with a light, easy-drinking taste, alongside a renewal of KIRIN ICHIBAN Zero Sugar, a beer that combines great taste with zero sugar (as defined by Japan's Food Labeling Standards) — meeting a range of different customer preferences. This spring, Kirin released its first design cans using thermochromic ink that changes color with temperature, and followed up with summer design cans this summer. Customers responded well to these cans, which let them feel the season through the changing color, and this time Kirin is releasing this product so customers can enjoy the feeling of autumn.
Built on the quality feel that defines the KIRIN ICHIBAN brand, the new cans feature autumn motifs suited to each product. When chilled, the maple leaf, pampas grass, and ginkgo designs change from yellow to orange, letting customers visually enjoy the feeling of autumn. The cans are meant to add a sense of excitement to the moment of drinking beer and to the enjoyment of the season, giving a wide range of customers a reason to reach for one.
KIRIN ICHIBAN is a brand built around the goal of becoming part of today's happiness for everyone who loves good food and drink. Kirin will continue working to make the beer category more appealing and lively through the taste of the KIRIN ICHIBAN brand.
Package Design
The design draws on the quality feel of KIRIN ICHIBAN, KIRIN ICHIBAN Zero Sugar, and KIRIN ICHIBAN White Beer to express the look of autumn.
Using thermochromic ink in part of the design, the maple leaf, pampas grass, and ginkgo icons change from yellow to orange once the can is chilled to about 10°C.
