Laguna Garden Hotel (General Manager: Hideki Arakaki) is transforming its popular "Laguna Aqua Zone" facility, featuring indoor and outdoor pools along with gender-separated bath areas and saunas. The hotel completed a full renovation of the indoor saunas in late December 2025, supervised by sauna legend "ととのえ親方" (Totonoae Oyakata) Dai Matsuo. In February 2026, they will add container-style outdoor saunas and a poolside bar to the outdoor pool area, rebranding the entire complex as "Safi Spa Okinawa."

What is Safi Spa Okinawa?

The predecessor to "Safi Spa Okinawa," the "Laguna Aqua Zone," has long been a beloved facility at Laguna Garden Hotel, offering a comprehensive spa experience with indoor and outdoor pools, bath areas, and indoor saunas within the bathhouses. With the completion of the indoor sauna renovation in late December 2025 and the upcoming addition of container-style outdoor saunas and a poolside bar in the outdoor pool area in February 2026, the facility will be rebranded as "Safi Spa Okinawa," delivering a more refined and sophisticated spa experience.

Outdoor Sauna Area Opening February 2026

A New "Resort Sauna Experience" at the Open-Air Poolside

The hotel's outdoor sauna area embraces the "Resort × Sauna" concept, with an expansive open-air design that takes full advantage of the spacious grounds. The indoor saunas have been renovated with distinct "Ryukyu"-inspired interiors for men and women. Equipped with the EOS-made sauna stove【CILINDRO PRO26】, the facility offers not only authentic equipment but also a safe and secure sauna experience.

The facility will also be available to local Okinawa residents as a relaxation destination.

Supervised by "Totonoae Oyakata" Dai Matsuo

An entrepreneur and professional sauna enthusiast who manages multiple companies while producing sauna facilities nationwide. Having guided countless people into the "totonou" (ultimate relaxation) state, he came to be known as "Totonoae Oyakata." Together with Daisuke Akiyama (Sauna Shisho), he established the sauna creative group "TTNE" and the "Japan Sauna Association," engaging in various activities within the sauna industry. As the world's first "Harvia Global Ambassador," he develops cutting-edge sauna spaces that blend architecture and design both domestically and internationally.

With a spacious design accommodating up to 10 people, friends and family can enjoy the sauna together. An outdoor cooling area is also available, where guests can relax and achieve "totonou" while feeling the natural breeze.

Winter-Only: One of Japan's Largest Cold Plunges Using a Massive Resort Pool

The facility's main attraction is the 53-meter-long outdoor pool, which will be transformed into one of the largest cold plunges in Japan during the winter season. The scale and sense of openness set it apart from typical cold plunge baths. The water temperature is maintained at the optimal 13 to 15 degrees Celsius for post-sauna cooling. Guests can cool down their heated bodies while experiencing the vast scale and natural surroundings. The expansive cold plunge enables a liberating and open resort sauna experience that only such a large space can provide.

After enjoying the sauna and pool, guests can savor their post-session moments at the poolside bar, completing their resort sauna experience. In addition to original drinks and a variety of cocktails, the bar offers "sauna meals" and other food menu items perfect for post-sauna dining. At night, the hotel logo neon lights gently illuminate the space, creating a photogenic atmosphere.

Indoor Saunas Renewed with Okinawan-Inspired Spatial Design in Late December 2025

The saunas within the gender-separated bath areas have also been renovated under the supervision of "Totonoae Oyakata" (Dai Matsuo), embracing a "Ryukyu" concept. Not only does the design evoke the spirit of Okinawa, but the facility also introduces the EOS-made sauna stove【SaunadomeⅡ】, the first of its kind in western Japan, offering authentic sauna experiences with self-löyly capabilities. Both saunas feature two types of cold plunge baths: one around 15 degrees Celsius with jet streams and a single-digit cold bath at 9 degrees Celsius. Additionally, safety measures have been thoroughly implemented, including doors that open and close with a simple push or pull, and emergency call buttons installed to ensure guests can fully relax and enjoy their sauna experience. The hotel is committed to continuous safety improvements.
