Enjoy Lake Toya's Long-Run Fireworks Festival with New Activity Plans at Toya Kohantei

The 44th Lake Toya Long-Run Fireworks Festival is underway at Lake Toya Onsen in Hokkaido. Every evening from April 28 (Tuesday) through October 31 (Saturday), 2026, fireworks fill the night sky above the lake from 8:45 PM to approximately 9:05 PM — a 20-minute display that marks the festival's 45th year. The event proceeds rain or shine, though it may be cancelled if wind conditions are unstable.

In conjunction with the festival, Toya Kohantei — a hot spring inn situated along the lakefront — has launched a new special plan for guests.

Lake Toya Activities Plan: Choose 2 Tickets from 3 Options

The plan allows guests to select two tickets from the following three popular local attractions:

  1. Lake Toya Sightseeing Cruise
  2. Fireworks Viewing Boat
  3. Usuzan Ropeway

Booking accommodation and tickets together through this plan costs less than arranging them separately.

For guests who want to experience both the Fireworks Viewing Boat and the Usuzan Ropeway, splitting the two activities across check-in day and the following day is recommended. A popular itinerary is to check in, enjoy the dinner buffet, and then board the fireworks viewing boat to watch the display from the water. The next day, the Usuzan Ropeway offers panoramic views of the Lake Toya area.
