LASTFRAME, a brand built around the idea of carrying Japan's traditional techniques into the future through contemporary design, releases new items in its "KASANE" series from Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
The "KASANE" series draws on "kasane no irome," a traditional Japanese color-layering aesthetic passed down since the Heian period. Using LASTFRAME's signature vivid color combinations, the series layers ancient Japanese color sensibility with contemporary design to express a style that transcends eras.
Each piece is made with material knitted on a specialized machine, of which only a handful exist in Japan. The result is a taut yet lightweight texture with durability, along with stretch in the horizontal direction. Beyond the design itself, the series pursues a functional beauty suited to everyday use.
ARC SMALL KASANE

ARC SMALL KASANE — ¥23,100 (tax included) — H: 16cm x W: 31cm x D: 11cm / Strap: 42-65cm
Named for its beautiful arc-like silhouette, "ARC" pairs a minimal form with soft curves for a simple yet striking presence. Sized for everyday use, it can hold a 500ml bottle or a long wallet, and its adjustable strap uses recycled leather made from reclaimed genuine-leather offcuts.
FLAT SMALL KASANE

FLAT SMALL KASANE — ¥22,000 (tax included) — H: 29cm x W: 24cm / Strap: 59-110cm
"FLAT" makes the most of a flat, minimal design. Once items are placed inside, the bag takes on a natural three-dimensional shape, and the simple form layered with "KASANE" colors creates a rich expression. Its adjustable strap also uses recycled leather made from reclaimed genuine-leather offcuts.
OBI KASANE

OBI KASANE — ¥25,300 (tax included) — H: 15cm x W: 28cm x D: 13cm / Shoulder: 34cm
Inspired by the obi sash worn with a kimono, "OBI" is a knit bag with a three-dimensional handle that evokes a tied sash. A zipper at the opening lets users carry their belongings with peace of mind.

About LASTFRAME
Built around the idea of "carrying Japan's traditional techniques, the pride of the world, into the future," LASTFRAME is a Japan-born brand shaped by designer Takanohiro Okude's experience across cultures around the world, with a commitment to being made in Japan. The brand focuses in particular on traditional techniques whose numbers of skilled craftspeople are dwindling year by year, reinterpreting them through the designer's contemporary perspective into designs found nowhere else. While carrying on Japan's traditional techniques, LASTFRAME aims for designs that are loved across borders, eras, seasons, and gender, without being confined by any of them, and is passed down as a luxury brand made in Japan, sent out to the world.
"LAST" carries two different meanings: "final" and "to endure."
By capturing Japan's fading craftsmanship and traditional techniques within a "frame," the brand elevates them into design and products, allowing them to endure. LASTFRAME is both a brand name and a description of its own activity: carrying Japan's traditional techniques, the pride of the world, into the future.
