bunai × JOURNAL STANDARD relume Brings Traditional Indian Craftsmanship to the Modern Wardrobe — Third Ethnic Collection Arrives Early July

JOURNAL STANDARD relume, operated by Baycrews Inc., is releasing the third installment of its ethnic collection featuring India's traditional block-printing technique, arriving in stores from early July 2026.

bunai × JOURNAL STANDARD relume

In collaboration with bunai, an Indian factory brand, the collection features open-collar shirts and easy pants made from block-printed fabric using the traditional KALAMKARI technique, along with beads accessories made exclusively for JOURNAL STANDARD relume.

The result is a collection that brings the craftsmanship of Indian artisans naturally into the modern wardrobe.

KALAMKARI Block Print

KALAMKARI is a traditional Indian block-printing technique in which hand-carved wooden blocks are used to layer patterns one at a time.

The slight shifts and faded textures left by the artisans' handwork give each piece its own distinct character and warmth.

The shirts and pants use block-printed fabric hand-dyed by artisans. The beautiful border pattern that appears only along the fabric's edge is used generously, placed not only at the hem but also at the cuffs.

It functions as an accent that pulls the overall pattern together, reflecting the artisans' meticulous attention to detail — down to where the fabric is cut.

The fabric is 100% Indian cotton, prized for its breathability and moisture absorption. Its light feel and relaxed silhouette make it comfortable to wear even in the hot, humid season.

This is an ethnic collection distinctly JOURNAL STANDARD relume's own, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design.

Beads Accessories

The accessories use glass beads and natural stones, each handmade individually by Indian artisans.

For this collection, JOURNAL STANDARD relume oversaw everything from the color palette and styling compatibility to lengths that make the pieces easy to layer.

The result is accessories that add a subtle touch of color to summer outfits.

bunai × JOURNAL STANDARD relume Chevron Beads Necklace

A necklace built around chevron beads, strung together with beads of varying character. It carries a vintage feel and the warmth of handwork. Random rhythm is layered onto the traditional, deep coloring of chevron beads, giving each piece the presence of a one-of-a-kind item. The length, thickness, and color palette have been reworked into an exclusive design with a balance not found in ready-made pieces. Beads are assorted.

bunai × JOURNAL STANDARD relume Red Beads Necklace

A red beads necklace reconstructed around an antique bead color palette.

The design reinterprets classic colors reminiscent of Native American jewelry in a modern way.

Translucent glass beads shift in expression as they catch the light, resulting in a piece that is simple yet has real presence.

An exclusive design created with the mood of an antique shop in mind.
