M925 Turns an Iconic Eren the Southpaw Quote into a Limited Sterling Silver Badge

Jewelry badge brand M925, operating under the concept of "Pure Message Precious Metal," has launched a collaboration with the popular manga Eren the Southpaw — a creator coming-of-age story that has accumulated a cumulative 250 million page views — to celebrate the series' anime adaptation. Copywriter and creative director Ryo Nakagawa, together with Eren the Southpaw creator Kappy, selected a line from the work — "The mark of a pro is making something good on a shitty day" — and developed an original English copy: "MAKE GOOD EVEN ON SHITTY DAYS." The design has been crafted into a limited-edition sterling silver badge. An original illustration of character Yusuke Kamiya wearing an M925 badge, drawn by Kappy, was also released, and a talk event between Kappy and Nakagawa was held to mark the collaboration.

About M925

Pure Message Precious Metal. Carry the words that matter most.

M925 is a jewelry badge brand built around the concept of "carry the words that matter most." Words worth holding onto are engraved and polished by craftspeople onto a precious metal canvas, with a range of messages expressed on each badge. Founded by copywriter and creative director Ryo Nakagawa in Harajuku in 2025.

The badge design is based on the line "The mark of a pro is making something good on a shitty day," spoken by creative director Yusuke Kamiya to protagonist Koichi Asakura in Eren the Southpaw. Chosen from the perspective of "words worth holding onto," it is a phrase that resonates with and straightens the posture of every creator. An original illustration of Kamiya wearing the M925 badge, drawn by Kappy, has also been made public.

About Eren the Southpaw

Eren the Southpaw follows Koichi Asakura — a young man who struggles with the limits of his own talent while dreaming of becoming "someone" — and Eren Yamagishi, a girl blessed with overwhelming artistic ability yet burdened by the loneliness and anguish that come with genius. The two meet by fate in high school and eventually pursue separate paths: Asakura as a designer at a major advertising agency, and Eren as an artist based in New York. Through the defeats and setbacks of two contrasting figures — ordinary and extraordinary — the story realistically portrays their journey toward discovering their true selves. It is a creator ensemble drama depicting the struggles of working adults.

Story

With half of high school behind them and the pressure of choosing a path growing real, aspiring designer Koichi Asakura is one day stunned by graffiti painted on a museum wall. The artist is Eren Yamagishi — a left-handed girl who had suppressed her talent following a pivotal incident. Through the act of drawing, the two gradually come to recognize each other, and Asakura sets out on the path of a designer while Eren pursues life as a painter.

I've been thinking lately that badges are pretty great. They can prove your identity, or express who you are. They even appear as a key item in my latest work. When I heard that M925's concept was "carry the words that matter most," I had Kamiya's line — one I've always valued — engraved on it. Once you're wearing this, there's no room for excuses.

Before I was "Koichi Asakura," I was the sales character "Ryukawa Toshi." I joined an advertising agency wanting to do creative work, but it wasn't until my eighth year that I was fortunate enough to transfer into a creative role. For me, the world of Eren the Southpaw is almost too real — watching it feels like looking at my own past, and it can be hard to face directly. That's exactly why it has been such a source of encouragement. A creative's daily life is a battle: facing yourself, believing in yourself, proving your own value. M925 is a project that turns "words worth wearing" into jewelry badges — in other words, products that inspire the wearer. For this collaboration, I reread the entire manga and, together with Kappy, chose from the lines that moved me. We settled on the words that creative director Yusuke Kamiya says to young Asakura: "The mark of a pro is making something good on a shitty day." I rewrote that as the English copy "MAKE GOOD EVEN ON SHITTY DAYS." By wearing this silver badge — engraved with words that both motivate and remind me — I aim to push myself toward becoming the kind of creator who truly shines.
