Mercure Sapporo, located in the Susukino entertainment district of Sapporo and operated by the French hotel group Accor, is running a special "Earth Week" program from April 19 (Sunday) to April 25 (Saturday), 2026. The week-long initiative coincides with Earth Day on April 22 and is designed to let guests experience eco-conscious choices naturally during their stay or dining visit.
Earth Week Highlights
Candle Night (April 22 only)
At bar "Le Cépage" on April 22, the lights will be dimmed and the space lit by candles for one hour from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM (during regular lounge hours of 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM). Guests can enjoy a calm and relaxed atmosphere unlike a typical evening at the bar.
Carbon-Neutral and Bio-Certified Wines (April 19–25)
Restaurant "Bordeaux" lunch buffet and lounge bar "Le Cépage" will offer carbon-neutral certified and vegan-friendly wines throughout the week:
- Karen Cabernet Sauvignon / Merlot (red) — glass ¥700
- DB Aromatic Gewürztraminer / Riesling (white) — glass ¥500
Guests who order one of these wines will also receive a piece of fair-trade chocolate.
Fair-Trade Tea and Jam (April 22 only)
On April 22, the breakfast buffet and lunch buffet at Restaurant "Bordeaux" will feature fair-trade tea and jam. The initiative supports sustainable production and fair trading practices that contribute to the preservation of local communities and the natural environment.
Eco-Friendly Stay Option
For guests staying multiple nights, the hotel is offering an eco-cleaning option: guests who agree to skip amenity refills and linen changes (with garbage collection only) will receive a bottle of water or tea as a thank-you. It's a small choice that contributes to protecting the environment for the future.
